LA DEMOCRAZIA E': FAI QUELLO CHE ACCADE

I've never been so concerned about italian cinema. Maybe because the current one is creepy, or maybe cause the so called "mainstream" cinema is actually very boring and purposeless. There are some very good productions (not Muccino, Hollywood is now loving him) but they're just completely hidden from those teenagers' love stories, and rude, vulgar films that "delight" people during the Xmas period.
I don't remember how, but once I've heard about a Michelangelo Antonioni trilogy of films: "La Notte" is one of them.
The film was shoot in the 60's, in a Milan who looks so intellectual and wealthy, so cosmopolitan and alive. The married couple are in a deep marriage crisis, they both know about the fact that they're cheating on the other. They are both totally bored about their life. Each on them is sure that, in a way, the other one suffers from the same kind of illness. That's why they never argue, one has pity the other.
Now I'm asking:
Could have Italy been so far ahead at that time? Maybe not, but the Antonioni was, and, in a way seems like is looking forward in time, in our time, to the mind of a contemporary man.
This is what I consider "AVANTGARD". The avantgard in art, music, cinema is the one who is meant to be ALWAYS so topical. What do you think about when you listen to a Beatles' album? I DO THINK it could be written nowadays.
